Mari-Luci Jaramillo, Educator 1928

If you can read this, thank your educational administrator.  Happy Birthday to Mari-Luci Jaramillo, born on June 19, 1928 in Las Vegas, New Mexico.  Jaramillo received her BA, MA and Ph D from the New Mexico Highlands University.  She served as a professor of education at the University of New Mexico, and became a widely recognized educational researcher.  President Jimmy Carter appointed her as US ambassador to Honduras; she was the first Latina to hold this post.  Jaramillo has received many awards for her work, including the 1986 Harvard Graduate School of Education’s Anne Roe Award for contributions to women’s professional growth in the field of education.
