Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña in the Mexican War of Independence 1831

February 14, 1831 marked the death of one of the leading revolutionary generals in the Mexican War of Independence, Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña.  Guerrero served briefly as the second president of Mexico and was the country’s first multiracial president with European, Native American and African heritages.  Guerrero distinguished himself in February 1812 at the Battle of Izúcar.  During 1815, when the rebels were suffering setbacks, Guerrero kept the cause alive through guerilla war.  Later in the War, he was caught in an internal political power struggle in the Mexican government, and was executed.
14 de febrero 1831 marcó la muerte de uno de los principales generales revolucionarios en la Guerra de Independencia de México, Vicente Ramón Guerrero Saldaña. Guerrero sirvió brevemente como el segundo presidente de México y fue el primer presidente del país multirracial con patrimonios europeos, nativos americanos y africanos. Guerrero se distinguió en febrero de 1812 en la batalla de Izúcar. En 1815, cuando los rebeldes estaban sufriendo reveses, Guerrero mantuvo con vida a la causa mediante la guerra de guerrillas. Más adelante en la guerra, se vio atrapado en una lucha interna de poder político en el gobierno mexicano, y fue ejecutado.
