Javier Miyares, President of UMUC 2012

The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) announced that Javier Miyares was appointed as President of UMUC on October 1, 2012. Miyares was born in Cuba, and escaped to the US as a teen-ager.  Miyares joined UMUC in 2001 as vice president for institutional effectiveness. Previously, he served the USM office as assistant vice chancellor for academic affairs.  (I’m a graduate of UMUC, which provided me with an amazing opportunity to achieve an MS in Computer Systems at night school.) El University of Maryland University College (UMUC) anunció que Javier Miyares fue nombrado presidente de la UMUC el 1 de octubre de 2012. Miyares nació en Cuba y se escapó a los Estados Unidos cuando era adolescente. Miyares se incorporó a la UMUC en 2001 como vicepresidente de eficacia institucional. Anteriormente, se desempeñó en la oficina de USM como vicecanciller adjunto de asuntos académicos.
