Founding of the city of Córdoba, Argentina

The city of Córdoba, Argentina, was founded on July 6, 1573, by Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera.  Córdoba is located in the heart of Argentina, and the area was initially settled by the Comechingón nation.  Córdoba is the country’s second largest city and hosts Argentina’s second largest university.  The first Jesuit University in Argentina was established here in 1613, and this section of the city is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  (Image by
