The First Catholic Mass en el Norte 1733
On February 26, 1733, the first Catholic Mass was celebrated at the first Catholic Church in the 13 North American colonies. Saint Joseph’s Church was founded by the Jesuits in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The church was a short walk from the home of Juan de Miralles, the Spanish diplomat and merchant who resided in Philadelphia to assist the rebels during the American Revolutionary War.
